Heidelberg – 70 years of Fogra membership

Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG has been a member of the Fogra Research Institute for Media Technologies since 1954. The machine manufacturer took the anniversary of the long-standing collaboration as an opportunity to visit the research institute in Munich-Aschheim.

On 11 November, Heidelberg’s Chief Technology & Sales Officer Dr David Schmedding, Head of Research & Development Frank Kropp and Head of Region South Sales Germany Sascha Knabe visited the Fogra premises. It was a good reason to make the long journey from Wiesloch, said Dr Schmedding. He is pleased that Heidelberg is able to contribute its expertise to the day-to-day research work. And now he had the opportunity to see how it is implemented.

One of the oldest Fogra members

Heidelberg joined shortly after the institute was founded, becoming one of the first members on 30 June 1954. The head of development for control and measuring systems, Dr Bernhard Buck, is an honorary member of the board. He is enthusiastic about “the fact that Fogra is creating a recognised technical basis for the various players in the industry.”

The visit to Munich-Aschheim was accompanied by Fogra CEO Stefan Aumüller, Managing Director of Aumüller Druck GmbH & Co. KG, and institute director Dr Eduard Neufeld. In addition to a tour of the premises and laboratories, general topics were discussed. The visitors were very interested in the current research projects and newly developed certifications. “I found it particularly exciting to see the laboratories and equipment,” explained Kropp, head of research and development. Knabe said that the visit was particularly interesting for him from a market perspective. Dr Neufeld and Stefan Aumüller agreed that the direct contact and personal visit will further intensify the already very good cooperation. “I am particularly pleased to be able to welcome a long-standing member such as Heidelberger Druckmaschinen to Fogra as its chairman. During this valuable meeting, we will be able to discuss possible joint projects and the current state of research,” emphasised the managing director of Aumüller Druck.
