Bimec S.r.l., a longstanding Italian manufacturer specialising in slitter rewinders and ancillary equipment, has unveiled its brand-new FUTURA range at the PRINT4ALL exhibition in Milan. This new line represents a synthesis of nearly 50 years of expertise in the converting industry, combining innovation, efficiency and advanced technology.
The FUTURA range encompasses the TF Single-Face Slitter Rewinder, the STM Duplex Slitter Rewinder, the TCA and BBOX Duplex Turret Slitter Rewinders, along with a selection of fully customised slitting systems for specialised applications.
Each machine in the FUTURA series features a renewed design, an even more robust structure, and a completely new user interface—making the operator’s work significantly easier, reducing the risk of human error, and minimising downtime.
Built on three core pillars
- Ergonomics: The FUTURA range has been designed with modular components and consistent construction across all models. This uniformity simplifies machine operation and enhances the operator’s familiarity, achieved through user-friendly design, intuitive interactivity and structural durability.
- Interactivity: The new FUTURA series incorporates a range of advanced features aimed at enhancing human-machine interaction, improving safety and streamlining every phase of production. Key innovations include an interactive synoptic panel, which clearly visualises the material path and features integrated tutorials to guide operators through setup and maintenance tasks. Emergency recovery allows fast and safe restarts following interruptions, supported by step-by-step guided procedures. Real-time monitoring offers immediate access to production data from the main screen, ensuring full process oversight. The new operational modes, “automatic” and “semi-automatic”, minimise manual intervention and maximise efficiency. The control panel boasts fully digital buttons for a modern, intuitive interface, while the “One-Push” reel unloading system speeds up and simplifies unloading operations. FUTURA is also built with the future in mind, offering “cyber security ready” functionality for advanced data protection and “AI ready” integration, enabling compatibility with artificial intelligence modules for process optimisation and analysis.
- Robustness: The reinforced structure of the FUTURA line ensures increased load capacity and long-term mechanical reliability. In addition to standard models, the FUTURA range includes specially engineered slitter rewinders tailored to complex or non-standard applications. Thanks to its in-house engineering capabilities and highly skilled technical team, Bimec delivers bespoke solutions capable of handling materials and web widths beyond flexible packaging—exceeding 1,800 mm in width and rewinding diameters of over 800 mm. Each project is developed in close collaboration with the customer, ensuring high-performance, customised, and reliable solutions.
A technical highlight: the B-KNIFE System
One of FUTURA’s standout innovations is the B-KNIFE slitting system—an entirely mechanical solution developed in-house by Bimec to elevate slitting performance. Unique in the industry, the B-KNIFE system guarantees maximum precision and adaptability. It supports a wide variety of materials and applications, with a minimum slitting width of just 20mm. Operators benefit from intuitive overlap and cant angle adjustments, automatic knife positioning, and easy switching between shear and razor cutting (both in-air and in-groove configurations). The B-KNIFE exemplifies Bimec’s commitment to practical innovation, delivering technically advanced yet user-friendly systems.
According to Bimec, “FUTURA is more than just a new product line—it is the embodiment of our ongoing technological evolution. It reflects a deep commitment to continuous innovation and to meeting the real-world demands of today’s converting industry.”
