BST and Lazpiur E-Mobility announce strategic Partnership

BST GmbH, a global leader in inline quality assurance solutions, and Lazpiur E-Mobility SL., a renowned expert in high-precision engineering and machine vision systems, have announced a strategic partnership aimed at enhancing burr detection and control in battery electrode production lines.

Quality control for e-mobility and energy storage

This collaboration marks a significant milestone in the advancement of quality control solutions for the growing electric vehicle and energy storage markets. By bringing together BST’s turnkey inline inspection systems with Lazpiur’s cutting-edge vision technologies, the two companies will offer next-generation solutions designed to detect burrs with higher precision, speed, and reliability. As part of this partnership, BST will hold the exclusive rights to market and distribute the integrated solution globally.

“With the continued growth of battery production worldwide, quality challenges like burr formation have a direct impact on safety and performance. Together with Lazpiur, we are committed to supporting manufacturers with integrated, high-performance inspection technologies that help ensure flawless electrode production,” said Klaus Hamacher, Director New Business Development at BST GmbH.

Shared vision for innovation and quality

Tiny burrs are unwanted metallic residues generated during the slitting of electrodes. If not reliably detected and removed, they can lead to short circuits, reduced battery lifespan, or even fires. The BST SLITTINGControl solution leverages Lazpiur’s advanced machine vision technology to create a robust inline platform for real-time burr detection and process control.
“This partnership with BST reflects our shared belief in collaborative innovation. By combining Lazpiur’s decades of experience in high-speed vision systems with BST’s expertise in automation and process integration, we are enabling the next level of quality assurance in battery cell production,” said Aritz Frojan, Business Unit Director at Lazpiur E-Mobility.
