Göksal Güngör elected new Chair of EAFA Roller Group

At this year’s EAFA Autumn Conference in Paris, the Roller Group of the European Aluminium Foil Association (EAFA) elected its new leadership. Göksal Güngör of Assan Alüminyum has been elected as the new Chair of the Roller Group, succeeding Bruno Rea of Laminazione Sottile, who had held the position since June 2017. Nicoletta Rigamonti of Carcano Antonio has been elected as the new Vice Chair.

The European Aluminium Foil Association is the main trade association, specifically representing companies engaged in the rolling and rewinding of aluminium foil and the manufacturing of semi-rigid alufoil containers and household foil in Europe. With its more than 40 members, the organisation represents the total aluminium foil rolling market in Europe. Founded in 1974, it has its roots in associations dating back to the 1920s.

Extensive experience

Göksal Güngör is General Manager of Assan Alüminyum, one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of flat-rolled aluminium products. He has extensive international experience in the aluminium industry and in leading global business operations. With his expertise in sustainable production, energy efficiency and international market strategy, he brings valuable insights to the continued development of the sector and to the work of the EAFA Roller Group.

“I would like to thank Bruno Rea on behalf of the entire Roller Group for his longstanding commitment and strong leadership,” said Göksal Güngör following his election. “Under his chairmanship, the group has played a key role in strengthening the industry’s cohesion and promoting collaboration within the EAFA – during a period marked by significant economic and geopolitical challenges. The past years, shaped by the impact of the pandemic, high energy costs, supply chain disruptions, inflation and the accelerated transition towards greater sustainability, have tested our industry. At the same time, they have demonstrated how innovative, resilient and forward-looking our sector is.”

Building on a solid foundation

He added: “I look forward to building on this solid foundation and working with the members of the Roller Group to create new momentum for efficiency, competitiveness and circularity. Aluminium foil plays a vital role in sustainable packaging and energy solutions in Europe, and we will continue to strengthen and advance its importance.”

The election represents both continuity and fresh momentum for the further development of the aluminium foil industry. The market for aluminium foil remains dynamic and future-oriented – driven by strong demand for sustainable, recyclable packaging solutions, technical innovation and the growing importance of aluminium in modern value chains.
