Schulz Flexgroup GmbH and the DFTA Flexodruck Fachverband e.V. jointly organised a practical workshop on UV flexographic printing. Pupils in Years 8 and 9 from the Baden-Baden Children’s and Youth Home and invited careers advisers from the region gained insights into the apprenticeship programme for flexographic media technologists as part of the ‘Career Compass Packaging Printing’ initiative.
“Packaging printing can save lives”
The workshop “Packaging Printing Can Save Lives” showed the approximately 40 guests just how responsible this profession is, particularly in the field of flexible primary packaging for pharmaceutical products and foodstuffs.
During the production tour, participants saw the full range of tasks involved in flexographic printing, including career prospects in the printing and packaging industry. The apprentices from Schulz Flexgroup demonstrated the versatility, modernity and forward-looking nature of the profession on ‘their’ machines and answered the many interested questions from the pupils.
During the approximately six-hour event, the guests experienced modern printing technologies at first hand. For the young people, the event provided valuable inspiration during their career orientation phase. The careers advisors gained insights for future guidance of those interested in apprenticeships.
Real career prospects for young people
“Events like this, with a strong practical focus, make flexographic printing tangible and show young people real career prospects,” emphasises Shireen Staib from the DFTA. And Cordula Schulz, owner and Managing Director of Schulz Flexgroup GmbH, adds: “We see ourselves deliberately as providers of opportunities and invest early on in talent that will drive our industry forward.”
