The European PLACE Committee announces to regroup under the Association of German Packaging Engineers (Bund Deutscher Verpackungsingenieure, bdvi) and aims at reinstating the European PLACE conference biennially starting 26-28 May 2025, at the Le Meridien Hotel in Munich, Germany.
As part of the revitalisation efforts following a decision by TAPPI (Technical Association of the Pulp & Paper Industry) to not host conferences outside North America, former TAPPI Europe members are regrouping under the Association of German Packaging Engineers.
Over 30 years of history
“We are excited to announce that we will reinstate the European PLACE Conference and continue to facilitate a unique industry get-together with over 30 years of history,” said Anna Helgert, European PLACE Committee Chair. “Meeting in person is key to tackle together today‘s technical challenges that cannot be solved alone or by an internet search. Upcoming legislation and companies’ sustainability targets such as decarbonisation and circularity goals require the whole value chain to collaborate stronger than ever before. Our biennial conference provides a vital platform for the technical community including academia, raw material suppliers, converters, OEMs, brand owners and recyclers where they can build and enrich their networks to exchange and advance together. Join us in shaping the future at the European PLACE Conference under new non-profit patronage. Support us as a committee sponsor to fund initial costs. The European PLACE Conference has a long tradition of bringing the global flexible packaging and converting industry together in Europe to exchange technical knowledge about Polymers, Laminates, Adhesives, Coatings and Extrusion. PLACE is providing a technical platform for the packaging industry with a focus on extrusion coating and laminating technologies. The organisers see the conference as a basis for lively exchange and knowledge transfer within the industry.
