Vetaphone launches new corona model for extruders

Vetaphone A/S, the inventor and pioneer of corona surface treatment, has launched a new model designed for the blown film market. Designated the VE2C-K, the new model will be exhibited at the upcoming Plast expo in Milan.

Designed for blown film applications

As part of its ongoing commitment to surface treatment, Danish manufacturer Vetaphone has announced the launch of a new model. Designed and manufactured specifically for blown film applications, the VE2C-K model is ideally suited to the vertical web path of this method of extrusion, with unrestricted access for web threading and the standard fitment of 200mm diameter rollers to handle the high corona power when needed.

Vetaphone knows that reliable performance is essential to smooth non-stop production, especially with downstream converting processes, and the company’s corona technology is designed to match individual requirements by providing tailor-made solutions. The new VE2C-K is a perfect example of this.

According to Kevin McKell, Chief Sales Officer at Vetaphone: “The VE2C-K is a full-functioning corona treater for blown film production. It combines our 75 years of expertise in surface treatment with the latest manufacturing techniques to provide a corona treater that extruders can ‘set and forget’.

The key to providing consistent dyne levels across a variety of substrates is the combination of ultra-efficient generators and superior design of the corona station fitted with advanced electrodes.
Vetaphone generators are available in an OEM integrated version, giving manufacturers the possibility to optimise design and total cost. Furthermore, in addition to Vetaphone’s own iCC8 HMI, several proprietary field bus options are available, including Profinet, Modbus, and Powerlink, to match the OEM’s supervisor.

Maximum uptime for production

Like all Vetaphone corona stations, the VE2C-K allows the operator to perform segment set-up for partial or lane-treatment, and maintenance in minutes, providing maximum uptime for production.

Specifications for the VE2C-K include treatment widths from 950mm to 2600mm as standard, but other widths are available on request. Operating speed is up to 500m/min, far more than the current blown film line speeds, which keeps the system future-proofed for whatever is around the corner in the industry. Electrodes can be aluminium or stainless steel, and roller coverings include silicone, vulcanised rubber, or ceramic.
