LOPEC 2025 – Pioneering innovations in printed electronics

LOPEC 2025 was marked by buzzing booths, pioneering product innovations, lively discussions among experts and high-level presentations. From 25-27 February 2025, around 170 exhibitors from 29 countries and about 2,400 visitors came together at Messe München’s ICM (International Congress Center). This year, the leading exhibition and the world’s leading conference for flexible, organic and printed electronics placed even more emphasis on the end-user perspective, including application-oriented lecture sessions. Key topics were the increasing market penetration and the vital role of printed electronics in driving sustainable applications across a wide range of industries.

“We look back on a very successful LOPEC,” concludes Katja Stolle, Executive Director for the Business Unit New Technologies at Messe München. “With a consistently high number of exhibitors, groundbreaking product innovations, a strong international presence and the quality of the presentations, we have once again set new standards.” Exhibition Director Armin Wittmann adds, “More and more industries recognise the potential of this technology to make existing products more sustainable and to create entirely new ones.”

Exciting prototypes and product innovations were also presented in the Innovation Showcase. These include smart OLED rear lights from Audi with integrated warning options, intelligent windows for vehicles and buildings that allow control of light transmission and generate energy, and a special vest with printed coils to facilitate MRI scans for children.

Industry on track for sustainable growth

“LOPEC 2025 has once again proven to be the world’s leading platform for flexible and printed electronics. I am delighted to see new products that meet the increasing environmental demands of various industries and demonstrate how printed electronics can make a significant contribution to a greener and more circular economy,” says Dr Klaus Hecker, Managing Director of the OE-A (Organic and Printed Electronics Association). “The strong industry presence and dynamic discussions confirm the sector’s growth potential. According to our latest OE-A Business Climate Survey, the industry continues its upward trajectory with revenue growth of 9 percent by 2025 and sustainable revenue growth of 13 percent for 2026.”

Conference with new features

At the three-day LOPEC Conference, industry representatives and research institutes from 23 countries shared their expertise in around 150 top-class presentations. These included speakers from Audi, Covestro, Fraunhofer, Henkel, Panasonic and SunChemical. “The new application sessions on the focus topics smart living and mobility made this year’s conference even more user-oriented. They allowed visitors to efficiently combine trade fair and conference,” says Wolfgang Mildner, General Chair of LOPEC.

A hub for innovation and networking

The exhibitors were extremely satisfied with their presence. “LOPEC is a very focused trade fair for all players in the printed & organic electronics sector with a very good mix of material and plant manufacturers as well as users,” says Franz Vollmann, Global Head Printed Electronics at Heraeus, enthusiastically. For Matjaž Finžgar, Head of Sales at Ino, LOPEC is also the perfect place to engage with experts and establish connections that will drive the industry forward: “We value the inspiration fostered by bringing together the right people to transform innovations into tangible products that enhance lives.” As the leading event for printed electronics, Edzer Huitema, CTO of E Ink, describes LOPEC as the best place to “showcase our latest innovations to potential customers and to connect with new suppliers and partners.” Numerous other key players participated as exhibitors, including Coatema, Elantas, Hamamatsu, Henkel, SPGPrints, SunChemical and tesa.
