New compact LED heads from Hoenle

UV technology manufacturer Hoenle has developed new LED heads for its bluepoint LED eco LED UV curing device. The redesigned LED heads combine significantly higher performance with more compact dimensions and can be easily connected to existing bluepoint LED eco devices.

The improved LED heads of the bluepoint LED eco are even more compact: with a diameter of 12 mm and a length of only about 55 mm – depending on the optics used – they are ideal for extremely confined installation situations while also optimising heat dissipation. The compact new LED heads can not only be connected to existing bluepoint LED eco devices, but also serve as a drop-in solution for other common UV curing systems with the same dimensions.
With intensities of up to 20,000 mW/cm², the LED heads are available for wavelengths of 365, 385 and 405 nm. In addition, they can be equipped with a 90° deflection head to enable effective irradiation of hard-to-reach areas or to make the best possible use of confined installation space.

Tailored to individual applications

The new heads of the LED UV spot illuminator can be equipped with various optical attachments that cover irradiation areas with a diameter of approx. 3, 7, 10 or 20 mm and can therefore be tailored to the individual application. The 10×2 mm optic has recently been added to the portfolio. This lens projects maximum intensity homogeneously onto a line approximately 10 mm long, enabling optimal irradiation of narrow gaps. A classic example of this application is active alignment. Other applications for the bluepoint LED eco include the curing of adhesives and potting compounds in a wide variety of manufacturing processes, such as bonding optical components, needle bonding of disposable syringes, the production of glucose sensors, and the fixing and potting of electronic components.

In addition, the Hoenle bluepoint LED eco offers improved machine safety. The system can be connected to the production machine via an integrated interface and has a signal input that ensures that the LEDs are reliably switched off in accordance with current safety guidelines. This is a crucial safety feature, especially in fully automated production lines, and ensures reliable protection for operating personnel.
