The Gerosa Group, an Italian company founded in 1935 in Inverigo (a city close to Milan), is an international leader in the flexible packaging and label fields, which today has five European processing sites, four sales offices in France and Germany and more than 800 employees.
In 2024, the Gerosa Group commissioned Bimec to manufacture four new TF60 single face slitter rewinders, intended for both the headquarters and other production sites. The Group has renewed its trust in Bimec, as these four slitters are in addition to the first two purchased in 2021 and intended for materials to be processed in both rotogravure and flexography.
Increasing productivity
In 2024, the Gerosa Group requested Bimec’s assistance as it needed to increase the productivity of its slitting departments with a compact and high-efficiency system. The TF60 single-face slitter rewinder fulfils both requirements because, thanks to its innovative design with unwinding and rewinding on the same side, it stands out for its ergonomics and high performance, which allow for reduced start-up times and faster changeovers between one cycle and the next. This is also possible thanks to the automatic positioning systems of the knife holders, the multi-groove female knives and the automatic single laser beam for core positioning.
The supplied system guarantees simple and intuitive use by the operator. In 2024, it was the subject of a major upgrade, which was presented during the drupa fair in Düsseldorf: it is now able to process reels up to one metre in diameter in unwinding.
Standardisation and simplification
In addition to this, choosing Bimec and the same model of slitter rewinder for the three sites has brought a further advantage: Added value is guaranteed not only thanks to the standardisation of the systems intended for the cutting departments but also thanks to the simplification of spare parts management, which now becomes simpler and faster.
The four lines were successfully installed: Start-up took place between the end of 2024 and the beginning of January 2025. The systems are operating with full cycles to the great satisfaction of the customer.
“Optimising our customers’ work cycle and increasing their productivity is our top priority. Doing it for an important company like the Gerosa Group makes us even more satisfied,” says Davide Bottoli, Bimec’s General Manager.
