On 26 and 27 August 2026, the Speciality Films & Flexible Packaging Global Summit took place in Mumbai, India. The summit and the accompanying trade fair were deemed a great success: more than 2,380 participants from over 800 organisations in 31 countries and more than 121 exhibitors came together.
Regulatory developments in Europe
KROENERT was represented by Andrea Glawe. She used the summit to exchange views with numerous participants, make new contacts and nurture existing customer relationships.
In terms of content, the conference was largely shaped by current regulatory developments in Europe. The focus was on the European Packaging Regulation, which came into force on 12 August 2026, as well as the Regulation banning PFAS in food packaging, which came into effect on the same day.
According to Glawe, the new regulations are of great significance not only for European companies. All countries and companies wishing to export products to Europe must comply with European regulations. Consequently, companies and organisations worldwide are engaging intensively with the new requirements and working on appropriate solutions.
Deepening international contacts
The Speciality Films & Flexible Packaging Global Summit thus provided an important platform for discussing current developments, exchanging experiences and deepening international contacts within the packaging industry.
