As in previous years, the OE-A hosted a pavilion at CES 2025. We asked Managing Director Dr Klaus Hecker about his impressions directly from Las Vegas.
You just came back from CES in Las Vegas, where OE-A had a joint pavilion with some of its members. Which overall trends did you see?
Dr Klaus Hecker: Artificial Intelligence (AI) was truly omnipresent at this year’s CES. AI was THE central theme of the show, present in all exhibition areas. I saw a lot of AI powered devices and AI integration not just in Consumer Electronics. Overall, the trends reflect a significant leap towards advanced user interfaces, electric vehicles, integrated smart home ecosystems, health-focused technologies, and sustainable solutions in the tech industry – that bridge to flexible and printed electronics.
And what is the status of PE there?
K. Hecker: Printed Electronics applications are definitely playing a growing role at the show. The presence of PE at CES 2025 underlines a wider industry trend towards integration of flexible, lightweight, and cost-effective electronic components into consumer products, wearables, smart labels, and advanced display solutions such as laptops with rollable OLED displays that almost double the size of the screen. In lighting concepts, ambient lighting plays a major role. I saw great applications in healthcare and medical devices as well as smart windows and transparent displays for automotive and transportation in general.
You have established a joint pavilion with some of your member companies. How was it?
K. Hecker: CES is a leading tech event with global attendance and many end-users walking the show. Our exhibiting member companies Interlink, Coatema, Holst Centre, VTT, INO, Beneli and Arkema-Piezotech made good contacts and had fruitful conversations. A perfect start to the year. And we are looking forward to CES 2026!
