AUO named Top 100 Global Innovators five times in a row

AUO has been named in the Clarivate Top 100 Global Innovators 2026, marking its fifth consecutive recognition on the list. The honour reflects AUO’s sustained innovation across the company’s three core business pillars: Display, Mobility Solutions and Vertical Solutions, supported by continued R&D investment and a strengthened global patent portfolio that advances the company’s transformation.

The Top 100 Global Innovators analysis is grounded in rigorous research and Clarivate’s global invention data, which measure the influence of ideas, their success and rarity, and the investment in inventions. This year’s ranking not only celebrates enduring innovation leadership, but it also reveals the forces reshaping that leadership, with AI at the forefront. The Top 100 Global Innovators contribute an exceptional 16% of the world’s highest-strength AI inventions.

Strong presence in optoelectronics

By the end of 2025, AUO had accumulated over 33,000 patent applications and 25,500 issued patents worldwide, 97% of which are invention patents. “Embodied intelligence is reshaping technology and creating new possibilities for display applications in the AI-driven era,” said Wei‑Lung Liau, Chief Technology Officer of AUO. “This shift continues to drive AUO’s innovation across Display, Mobility Solutions and Vertical Solutions. The repeated recognition from Clarivate affirms our forward‑looking vision and the progress of our key technology advancements.”

Solid progress

In 2025, AUO achieved solid progress across its key innovation domains. In Display, the company achieved notable breakthroughs in energy‑efficient and low‑carbon solutions, accumulating more than 4,880 related patents worldwide, with Micro LED accounting for 86% of the patents issued during the year—demonstrating AUO’s leadership in next‑generation display innovation. In Mobility Solutions, AUO strengthened its patent portfolio in vehicular applications and smart cockpit technologies, with invention filings in Taiwan increasing by approximately 20%. In Vertical Solutions, the company continued to extend its patent footprint into diverse fields, including healthcare, green energy, communication antennas, Co‑Packaged Optics (CPO), and software applications beyond display that are related to IoT and AI‑driven technologies, further advancing its broader innovation roadmap.
