Epishine and Nichicon Present Disruptive Self-Charging Battery Concept at CES

Epishine, a leading energy impact company, and Nichicon, the world’s leading capacitor manufacturer, deepen their strategic partnership with the introduction of a revolutionary self-charging battery concept. This concept aims to simplify the design of light-powered electronics, providing a power solution as easy to integrate as traditional batteries. In doing so, it addresses sustainability, usability, and cost-related concerns, marking a significant stride towards a new era in powering electronics.

The presentation of Epishine’s and Nichicon’s self-charging batteries as a joint market concept showcases how powering devices sustainably can be made easy. Their joint concept is an optimised combination of Epishine’s high performing solar cells and Nichicon’s groundbreaking LTO-batteries. The result is an integrated solderless autonomous power solution with high efficiency. It stands as a sustainable, user-friendly and cost-effective alternative to disposable and re-chargeable batteries, reducing time-to-market and cutting down on product development costs.

Paving the way to a sustainable future

Klas Engström, Sales Director at Nichicon explained, “At Nichicon, we believe in pushing the boundaries of innovation to create solutions that not only meet today’s needs, but also pave the way for a sustainable future. Our collaboration with Epishine in developing this self-charging battery is a testament to this commitment and we are proud to be at the forefront of this revolution.” By merging Nichicon’s expertise in the electronic components industry with Epishine’s innovative energy solutions, this collaboration is expected to set new industry standards.

Jonas Palmér, Business Development Director at Epishine, elaborated, “We’re very excited about our partnership with Nichicon. Together, we’ve created a self-charging battery powered by light – a sustainable advancement not only in its technology but also in its potential applications. It’s a big step in simplifying the design of self-powered electronics, aligning perfectly with Epishine’s longstanding goals.”

This development promises to revolutionise how electronics can be powered with its longevity, reduced environmental impact, and ease of integration. It represents not just a step towards sustainability but could enable a new era of smarter, user-friendly electronics. At CES 2024, Epishine can be found at the Las Vegas Convention Center North Hall, Booth 10970, IoT Infrastructure Pavilion.
