Martin Automatic, a leading US manufacturer of unwind/rewind and web tension technology, will be exhibiting two of its best-selling models at the upcoming drupa trade fair in Düsseldorf (28 May 28th to 7 June). On working display will be a Martin MBS automatic unwind butt/splicer and an LRD automatic rewinder.
Using Martin’s ‘4Es ethos’ of Easy to use, Easy to understand, Easy to maintain, and Easy to integrate, the thrust of the company’s presentation at drupa will be to show converters how to transform their web processes into non-stop profit-making centres with the latest automatic splicing unwinds, rewinds and tension control systems.
Designed for non-stop unwinding
The MBS is designed for non-stop unwinding in label converting, flexible packaging, light paperboard, pouch, and bag production and with specialty performance webs like filter media and resilient non-woven webs, as used in the construction industries.
It is a versatile machine with integrated roll loading, a patented linear sheer splice unit that guarantees a single thickness splice on webs from 6 to 1300 micron, and configurations to satisfy the most demanding space considerations. Martin MB butt splicers offer both the flexibility and affordability for web automation in both current and future market situations, with web widths ranging from 330 to 760 mm and roll diameters up to 1500 mm.
The LRD is Martin’s two-spindle non-stop rewinder for label, flexible packaging, pouch, and bag production and use with many other specialty webs for narrow to mid-web processes. Its design allows production versatility that includes slitting, winding, and roll handling, with automatic roll unloading – no carts or operator intervention.
Operator convenience package
The latest LRD is fitted with Martin’s renowned operator convenience package that includes single point core loading, and automatic shaft handling. It is ideally suited to converters looking to run webs from 330 to 850mm width and roll diameters up to 1270mm.
The MB and LRD product lines are only part of Martin’s stand at drupa – other experiences allow customers to interact with technologies up to 3m web width and beyond, and web speeds up to 900m/min. Speaking for Martin Automatic, VP Sales & Marketing Gavin Rittmeyer commented: “We are delighted to be back at drupa after eight long years and look forward to welcoming friends old and new to our stand for some traditional American hospitality.”
